Jamie and Callum’s Wedding at Bangor Farm
Some weddings are beautiful.
Some weddings are beautifully thought through.
Jamie and Callum’s wedding at Bangor Farm was both.
This was one of the first weddings held at the venue, during its very first season, which made the day feel particularly special. It also meant there was a lot to consider when it came to how the spaces would be used, how guests would move throughout the property, and how the entire day would flow.
Which, conveniently, is exactly the kind of thing we love.
A New Venue with Plenty of Possibility
Located in Darfield, Bangor Farm was previously an award-winning operational deer farm before India and Mark purchased the property and transformed it into a wedding venue.
The expansive former deer sheds became a grand reception space, complete with high ceilings, beautiful timber features and plenty of room to create something memorable.
Jamie and Callum were excited by the possibilities, but also understandably aware that they were among the first couples to hold their wedding there and needed the support and guidance to make sure their day was well thought-through and they had all aspects of their logistics and guests considered.
We visited the venue, walked through the spaces, considered the timing of the day and created a plan that made sense both visually and practically. Working through these aspects of your wedding planning are incredibly important - from where guests arrive, to making their way to the ceremony space and how they move from one part of the day to the next, to whether they feel comfortable, and whether the whole day flows.
Planning the Guest Experience
Jamie and Callum chose to hold their ceremony at The Folly, one of Bangor Farm’s 3 options for ceremony spaces, and is one of the most striking.
Set away from the main buildings, it is expansive, open and framed by beautiful mountain views, with pillars and a rustic chandelier. It makes an impressive ceremony setting, but it also needs to be planned properly.
The Folly is around a five-minute walk from the main buildings, so we needed to think about how guests would be guided there, how they would move back afterwards, and how comfortable that journey would be for everyone.
This is where wedding coordination becomes less of a nice extra and more of a very sensible decision.
Guests were directed down to the ceremony, then naturally drawn back towards the main buildings with drinks and canapés waiting for them. Simple, effective, and far better than leaving people to wonder where they are meant to go next.
We also considered guests who were older or less mobile, as there are other transport options available to help them reach The Folly comfortably.
From there, the flow of the day continued into the reception.
Rather than allowing guests to filter into the space gradually, we planned for the barn doors to open and reveal the reception in full.
Lights glowing. Tables finished. Florals in place.
The whole room, all at once.
One of the side doors had been left slightly ajar as guests arrived for the ceremony, and the first few people who caught a glimpse inside responded with audible gasps. Always useful feedback.
Later, when the barn doors opened properly and guests saw the reception as intended, the reaction was even better.
It was one of our favourite moments of the day, and a very good example of why guest flow, timing and coordination matter just as much as the styling itself.
Warm, Layered and Considered Styling
The overall styling direction was warm, opulent and slightly moody.
The venue already had strong rustic features, so we worked with them rather than trying to compete with them.
Textured florals were arranged on tall plinths to draw the eye upwards and emphasise the scale of the roof. This gave the room impact without filling it with unnecessary detail.
French linen tablecloths and napkins softened the space, while gold cutlery, cylindrical glass vases and pillar candles added warmth and depth. Even the candle colour was considered. White felt too sharp against the natural linen, so we changed them to a soft beige - a small change, but an important one.
Cohesion often comes down to decisions like this. Not adding more, but choosing better.
The final result felt warm, elegant and well balanced.
Stationery That Actually Belonged There
Stationery is often treated as a finishing touch, but when it is done well, it becomes part of the overall styling rather than something added at the end. No clashing shades. No “close enough”.
Using subtle colour, without being overwhelming here is key. For their name cards we opted for a deep colour that would work well in contracts with their rust linen napkins - the colour we were using as depth for their florals. It’s always intentional in all elements and details of their day, and this may be a small one, but one that really makes a difference.
The Fairy Lights That Stayed
One of the most memorable elements of Jamie and Callum’s wedding was the draped fairy light installation in the reception space.
We installed the lights specifically for their wedding, creating a warm, atmospheric glow throughout the barn.
Paired with the chandeliers, the lighting completely changed the feel of the room.
It worked so well that the fairy lights stayed in place and remain at Bangor Farm today.
Using the Space Properly
The reception room was expansive, which meant it needed more than tables and chairs to make it feel complete.
We brought in trees and shrubs to add softness, scale and structure throughout the room, particularly behind the head table.
This helped define the space and gave the couple a strong focal point without making the area feel over-styled.
We also repurposed the ceremony arch and moved it into the reception.
This allowed it to work as a backdrop for guests later in the evening, and work it did.
We stayed longer than expected while guest after guest lined up to take photos in front of it.
When people voluntarily queue for a backdrop, you know it has earned its place.
Why Venue Knowledge Matters
We work at Bangor Farm regularly and know the venue well. That familiarity makes a real difference.
We know how the spaces can be used, how guests naturally move through the property, where bottlenecks can happen, and which layouts create the best balance between atmosphere, comfort and flow.
We can also spot the things that are easy to miss when you are looking at a venue for the first or second time.
Where will guests gather?
Will there be enough seating?
How will people move between spaces?
What will they see first?
Where does the biggest visual moment need to happen?
These decisions shape the day just as much as the colour palette or florals.
Good styling looks beautiful. Great styling also works.
Why We Recommend Wedding Coordination
A wedding like this involves multiple spaces, suppliers, timing points and transitions.
Someone needs to be watching the full picture.
A wedding coordinator manages the day from all angles, keeping the timeline moving, communicating with vendors and solving problems before they become your problems.
They make sure the ceremony is ready, the canapés arrive when they should, the reception reveal happens at the right time and your guests know where they are going.
Most importantly, they allow you to be present.
You should not be wondering whether the candles have been lit or checking if the doors are ready to open.
That is not your job.
Your job is to get married, enjoy your guests and actually experience the day.
We offer wedding coordination alongside styling, furniture hire, florals, signage, setup and packdown, which means the creative and logistical details are handled by one team.
One point of contact. One clear plan. Far less room for things to get lost in translation.
The Final Result
Jamie and Callum’s wedding was warm, considered and completely suited to the venue.
The lighting created atmosphere.
The florals added height and texture.
The linen, stationery and candle colours worked together.
The guest flow made sense.
And the reception reveal did exactly what it was meant to do.
It delivered the wow moment without the day ever feeling forced or overdone.
That is always the balance we are looking for.
A wedding that feels elevated, personal and easy to experience.
